The New Jersey Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee is holding a hearing on Monday to discuss medical and recreational marijuana legislation. Both medical marijuana bills expand the rights of medical marijuana patients and caregivers including access to medical marijuana. The bills, S. 10 and S. 2426, expand the number of qualifying conditions by removing the requirement that a condition be debilitating, and S. 2426 allows access to medical marijuana for any medical diagnosis. The bills also open access to medical marijuana by replacing the requirement that a patient obtain a physician certification to use medical marijuana with just an authorization from a physician or health care professional.
